The powertrain of a car is a highly complex system in which many different components have to interact smoothly. However, the requirements that the individual functions place on the materials used are just as varied. While service life, efficiency and speed stability should be as high as possible, power loss must be minimised. Low weight and minimal tolerances are just as important as lightweight materials, high temperature and corrosion resistance and good tribological properties. If the components are in the oil circuit, technical cleanliness is also important. Last but not least, the products should be manufactured ready for installation and at a competitive cost structure.

Our customised materials have the right solution for all these challenges. With our carbon brushes, we offer customised products by integrating them into customer projects as early as possible, a wide range of materials and many years of development expertise. In the field of mechanical carbon, you can rely on our process mastery and certified manufacturing processes to fulfil the high quality standards of our zero-defect philosophy.

In the field of sintering technology, we impress with the selection of suitable manufacturing processes, the implementation of line concepts in process design and the in-house development of optimised handling concepts in the process sequence. Application-specific material development is also one of our strengths, as is the development of ‘green part’ processing for sintered parts. Last but not least, we have our own certified testing laboratory for competent material testing.

From starter to gearbox - reliable components from a single source

Carbon brushes, MCA and sinter for numerous components

Our developments can be found in many drivetrain components. For example, we manufacture Schunk carbon brushes for starters, petrol pumps and ETC motors. Our rotors and vanes, on the other hand, are used in vacuum pumps for brake boosters. Together with our bearings for exhaust systems and our graphite injection moulded parts for coolant pumps, we offer you an entire portfolio of mechanical carbon components. In addition, we develop hybrid components made of carbon and sintered metal - a unique offering that only exists once.

We offer sintering technology solutions in three manufacturing methods, depending on the quantity and complexity: Axial pressing. MIM and 3D printing. Our components are used as valve train components, chain wheels, timing belt wheels, actuator parts, parts for water and oil pumps, holders for fuel injectors, camshaft phasers, encoder wheels for camshafts, rotors and stators for camshaft phasers, gear wheels for balancer shaft gears and as components for planetary gears and parking brakes. All our products combine top quality with a long service life and low wear. The engine values remain stable over the entire service life thanks to the use of Schunk products.
