Overview of our components for energy storage and supply

Energy storage & supply

Graphite plays to its strengths in energy storage and energy supply - The automotive industry is undergoing radical change. Vehicles are to become lighter and more fuel-efficient, more environmentally friendly and efficient, more connected and more comfortable. The goal is clear: clean mobility. However, emission-free mobility requires fresh thinking, innovative developments and a suitable material: carbon. Because black is the new green. Its unique material properties make graphite the ideal solution in many areas of the automotive future - including in the field of energy storage and energy supply.

Safe and efficient battery management is the keyword here, as is the targeted storage and dissipation of heat. We have created pioneering solutions for this with latent heat carbon composites. As one of the world's leading suppliers of technologically advanced graphite components in the automotive sector, we can utilise their properties in a customised and tailor-made manner.

Carbon solutions for maximum efficiency in thermal management

Thermal management with carbon-based materials

Our components for thermal management combine many positive properties. Customised graphite composites ensure low weight, high reliability even under the most challenging conditions, high thermal conductivity, improved power density and low thermal expansion.

Optimised thermal management for battery and drive

Battery management - safe and efficient

The service life of Li-ion batteries and their performance is decisively determined by the temperature. Batteries in hybrid and electric vehicles coated with latent heat carbon always undergo controlled thermal management during fast charging and discharging. The optimum operating temperature of the cells is maintained throughout the entire charging and discharging process, thus preventing thermal runaway.

STORE ENERGY AND DISSIPATE IT SAFELY

Latent heat carbon and our specially developed aluminium-graphite composite materials can take on a variety of other tasks in addition to the thermal management of batteries, such as temperature regulation and buffering temperature peaks in electric cars. However, these materials also demonstrate their strengths in conventional drive systems. Using latent heat carbon, the waste heat from combustion engines can be stored and reused - for example to heat lubricating oil and cooling water before a cold start, which in turn reduces exhaust emissions. With the help of our aluminium graphite composite materials, the heat generated by electronic components in the car can be safely and quickly absorbed and dissipated. This allows operating temperatures to be maintained in favoured ranges, which leads to greater efficiency, reliability and a longer component service life.
